I am curious at what point in time do the few that actually pay attention to politics stop with the incessant, “Oh, those rascally Democrats, always bending over for the Republicans! When will those scamps ever learn?” I mean, there’s all this supposed outrage and incredulousness that the Democrats will in all likelihood buckle yet again (this time on tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans), but when will they really and truly pay the piper? A point was made by someone from Media Matters that a cave by the Dems on this issue might drive the point home that they really are no longer the party of the working class. On a side note, I started reading Taibbi’s Griftopia and can’t help but consider the parallels between Christmas and Presidential Politics; they’re starting earlier and earlier, which should signify just how much trouble we’re in. That is, if we need to have our attention willfully diverted to whatever it has been decided is important, whatever’s going on behind the scenes must be most ugly.
